Kids Korner Early Learning Centre has multiple centers throughout the Sydney Southwest and in the Western parts of Sydney.

All our staff at Kids Korner believes in the importance of working in a team situation in order to provide a high level of care for the children and the families.

We achieve this through having mutual respect for other staff members and strive for effective communication through regular Staff meetings and Management meetings where all members are encouraged to take the opportunity to voice their opinions and offer suggestions.

At Kids Korner we have a Management Team consisting of four managers, who do regular weekly audit visits to each of the centers. Our management team has a total of 21 years experience in the childcare industry. At each center there is an appointed Authorised Supervisor to manage the center and the team of staff on a daily basis. The combination of this continual auditing and the experience of the Authorised Supervisors at each center have allowed Kids Korner to maintain and provide the highest level of care expected by our families.

At Kids Korner all our centers operate at above staff to child ratios.

Staff will use current early childhood information when planning and programming for the children's developmental needs. The children's programs are based on play and will be developmentally appropriate. The implementation of hands on sensory materials is to ensure the children learn in a fun and interesting way.

Kids Korner believes the surrounding community has an important role in educating the children enrolled at the centre. The centre strives to reflect the children's and their family's needs, cultural background, values and beliefs by involving families and the community within the overall program of the centre. Kids Korner endeavors to provide the children with high quality, non-institutional childcare and education through highly trained, qualified and experienced staff.

Philosophy

Kids Korner provides a warm, friendly, safe, healthy and educationally sound environment in which all children are treated as equals regardless of gender, race or ability. We provide the best possible learning environment where children can develop to their full potential.

Developmental ages and stages are catered for through appropriate learning programs and experiences.

We acknowledge each child is unique and aim to provide an environment where children's eagerness and curiosity is fostered; creative thinking is encouraged; where children can make choices and are allowed time to reflect and explore, encouraging their sense of self.

Our programs reflect diversity in culture and gender, promoting a happy and accepting environment for all children regardless of religion, culture and family backgrounds. The program also considers the individual needs of families based on open communication, in order to respect values and the rights of children and their parents. Families are recognised as their child's first teacher and this philosophy is used to develop partnerships with families using a variety of strategies.

Using the extensive knowledge of our Management team and centre staff, our purpose built centre is resourced and provides the appropriate environment for babies and children to learn and have fun.

Our philosophy is based on the following key areas:

OUR FAMILIES - a commitment to building a working partnership between families and staff:

  • Families need to develop a sense of trust in the adults who care for their children.
  • Families need regular feedback about their child.

OUR ENVIRONMENT - is aesthetically designed to reflect the individual needs of families. We strive to make play spaces more homelike to support the transition process. We appreciate that:

  • Children learn best in small groups where they can form friendships.
  • Children feel more in control when they know what is going to happen next in their day.
  • Children develop a sense of trust and self-esteem when teachers respond to their needs. They learn they are important and worthy people.
  • Routines are important learning times and should not be rushed.

OUR PROGRAMS - the program reflects planned and spontaneous experiences to support babies and children's development in all developmental areas:

  • Interactions with children are based on a sound knowledge of child development and an appreciation of individual needs.
  • A balance of child-initiated and adult initiated activities is promoted.
  • Learning is guided and facilitated by adults to encourage children to experience a range of activities.

OUR TEAM - support a culture of cooperation, care and teamwork:

  • Staff has made a commitment to support the values, philosophy and practices of the centre.
  • There is an ongoing commitment to training and development.
  • Staff feels valued as team members and therefore has a higher level of job satisfaction.
  • We employ a range of qualified staff from University Trained Teachers with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), TAFE graduates with a Diploma of Community Services (Children's Services), Certificate 3 in Children's Services, Trainees who work closely under the supervision of our Centre Directors and Room Leaders and Casual staff who are employed when necessary (this is minimised to ensure continuity for your children).
  • Our Staff members are screened through a Working with Children Check, carried out by the Commission for Young Children.
